Share with the world  your discoveries - it is so important that we all join hands and unite in telling the real truth. Some may be so captured emotionally that they would prefer to place the image in an album and only show it to family and friends. We will never solve mysteries or move forward if we hide things in our draws. Woodborough Hill Ariel Night Images (11pm 07/08/09)

Background to the Shots

I spent the evening in the circular formation that is over the side of the hill when viewed from East Field. For the first part of the evening I was watching the combine harvesters in action in the next field, followed by the rising of a beautiful full moon. At around 11am I felt the sudden need to move from my point in the apex of the formation and walk the perimeter of the circle and as I did this and began facing the west, that is when I saw the lights in the sky, otherwise from where I was and the direction that I was facing, I would never have seen them.
As shown in the image below, I was about one third of the way along the bottom line of the triangle just before the middle circle that is the meeting point of the three inner triangles in this formation and at this point the hill in front of you hides most of the land to the west of Woodborough Hill.
There were two large lights just hanging motionless in the sky, with up to three much smaller lights moving busily between the line of the horizon and the height of the main lights. When I took the first image, the flash was still on so I was able to then confirm afterwards the exact spot where I took the photograph and this first photograph is what is shown below.

This shows the two stationary lights and one of the much smaller three lights that were moving under the main lights.As a reference, the horizon would be below the smaller light by a distance that was about half (or less) of that between the small light and the larger lights.

After I took the first shot, I switched the flash off and as I was doing this the lights changed into one light that then also still just hung motionless in the sky, but now the smaller lights underneath had stopped.

This light continued to hang motionless in the sky for at least another 10 seconds, but the images show it getting brighter.

Then this light blinked out in an instant and the sky went black for a few seconds before the light re-appeared, but this time it had moved up and to the right its previous position, however there was no evidence of movement, just a blinking out and a re-appearance in a different location. This shows the new replacement light that looks brighter and it also just hung,motionless in the sky before it too, just blinked out.

2 Observations on These Lights

I went back to the identical spot the following afternoon and stayed there to midnight and there are no buildings, or roads, or anything else that has any regular daily light activity in the direction of where I saw the lights. As such I can eliminate trains, cars and roads, as well as lights from tall buildings, or any buildings for that matter. On the evening of the lights, I was photographing the evening movements of the farm combine harvesters and how they look in night pictures and their profile is very different, as well as the time of these lights being too late for them (and anyway they don’t fly). I also tried to photograph planes overhead, but their lights are too small to register on the camera that I was using, either with, or without flash.In addition, because the lights still came out on the pictures with and without the flash, that means that they were significant in size, as when the flash is on with the camera that I was using, all the test shots that I did of distant lights in buildings and in streets etc failed to show up in the pictures at all.
As the moon was spectacular that night, I also photographed it and again that gave a different profile and anyway the moon was in the east and these were in the west. Only one star even registered on the camera with the flash off, which was close to the moon and so was probably Venus, though coming from Australia, I don’t know the stars in the northern hemisphere.
So that leaves military options as another possibility, but these lights were not flares, or like any military lights that I have seen on videos and the static/jumping behaviour of the lights would rule out military planes and helicopters. As such I have no explanation for the lights other than that they are of an unknown source.
